Pleasure to be here. It’s a pleasure to have you both look at both of you representing also in your red. Love that. Good morning. Thank you for waking up so early. This is such a special conversation. And also for those of you who are watching, if you haven’t saved our number, you should know 6224010 because we are giving away a ticket before we get into that, let’s talk about the unique history of Bishops High School and of course the.

00:00:53:11 – 00:01:21:06

So Bishop High School is a core educational institution. It’s actually the first co-educational institution that was established in Tobago. And we have a rich history in Tobago. We have produced scholars. We have produced, persons who have contributed to the national landscape, and we have a host of subject offerings at the school. I will pass on to Miss Key, who would also give you some more information about Bishop’s High School.

00:01:21:09 – 00:01:50:23

Miss K c yeah, it’s so good morning again. Thank you Nikki. So when we talk about the history of Bishop’s High School, Tobago. And as my my colleague indicates, it’s a very rich and diverse history. Bishop sized school as he indicated, is the first coed secondary school in Trinidad and Tobago. And where it’s considered and Tobago, we have, diverse alumni.

00:01:50:28 – 00:02:17:17
Unknown
We have persons who have come from various spheres. We’ve had prime ministers, presidents, current and sitting, justices of the peace, chief justices. We have persons who have been in every sphere of leadership at a national level. One of the things that we want to understand as well, when you hear bishops, Tobago, a lot of people associated with bishops in Trinidad.

00:02:17:19 – 00:02:57:05
Unknown
And this really is because the founding father for Bishop Anstey in Trinidad was one of the founding fathers for bishops. Tobago, which is Bishop Anstey himself, along with we have along with him we had seven goals. We have James begot Archdeacon, he will Davies quite some number. And when we look at what we are getting ready to celebrate that 100 years, it is really because there is an understanding that Tobago’s history, or rather Bishop’s legacy, is Tobago’s history.

00:02:57:08 – 00:03:25:14
Unknown
The history of bishops is part of Tobago’s legacy. There isn’t a way to talk about Bishops High School separate and apart from all that is going on, and Tobago. So it’s one of the things where we keep saying Bishop’s history is Tobago’s legacy, because you would have persons who may not be alumni, but they have family members who are they may be parents of alumni.

00:03:25:18 – 00:03:56:16

Many, if I could probably safely say 78.3% of the island of Tobago has some connection with bishops. And this is why we are so excited to share this and to talk about the history of our school because of what it means for the island of Tobago. Now, one of the things that you just would have mentioned, Miss Key and we have been referencing, of course, is it’s the centennial, what has been done so far to celebrate such a momentous occasion in history?

00:03:56:18 – 00:04:42:08
Unknown
Well, one of the things, because the anniversary is on the 14th of September, school started 14th of September 1925. So about September last year, we began with the launch of the centennial celebration. And that launch took place, and we had the official launch on September 13th, and the Centennial Committee was established last year, September 14th there. What we’re working on right now, and what we’ve already done is to launch our Facebook page so persons can go on to the Facebook page and connect with us, get updates and so forth.

00:04:42:14 – 00:05:06:16
Unknown
We have also established our websites and our Instagram account so that we can begin connecting with all of the alums, home and abroad, so that we can get everything running. Because what we are about to do under Nicole, she will give you more information on that is going to give you some information on something that’s happening next week.

00:05:06:18 – 00:05:31:19
Unknown
And we are trying to pull everybody in because we are up and running with enthusiasm and excitement, because it’s 100 is. And one of the things we’ve acknowledged, none of us, none of us would be around probably for the next 100. So we want to make sure that as many of us as possible can be a part of what is taking place now, because we are ready to run.

00:05:31:22 – 00:05:49:18
Unknown
Well, for sure, we can see that that call is quite active, not just here, but on social media as well. And just throughout. The alums, because everybody is definitely so positive when it comes to their experience at Bishop’s High School. Nkosi, let’s bring you back into the conversation. As Miss Kate would have mentioned, upcoming events are happening. Can you share with us more?

00:05:49:20 – 00:06:19:02

We have a rich history of French educators really sharing what it means to me to be French.

00:06:53:17 – 00:07:17:28

Although we are in Tobago, we have a history that constitutes that. That comprises of Mrs. Angela Sosa and Miss Giovanna Campbell. Those are persons who have received the highest civilian, prize from the French government for their contributions to French language development and the French culture on the island of Tobago. So we are paying homage to Mrs. Suzette Jean Stuart.

See what is spoken about. The fact that the celebration, of course, started last year. You have upcoming events from February to July. Is there anything in particular that’s going to be happening this year, in 2025 for your anniversary month?

00:11:12:29 – 00:11:38:17
Unknown
That’s the likely because it’s the anniversary year almost every single month. Listen, we are asking since the get on board and get running because as Nicholas indicated, we have our Valentine’s brunch next week in March, we are going to have a series of, seminars and workshops geared towards the youth, towards women, towards our men. There will be an educational panel discussion.

00:11:38:22 – 00:12:05:04
Unknown
We have a movie nights in March in May, we are going to have our Mother’s Day fashion show and we are looking forward to that with so much enthusiasm. June. We will be marking on June the 6th. We will celebrate our 100 days to our anniversary. Then we are going to have our cross country event in August. Then when we hit September, we are going to hit September.

00:12:05:04 – 00:12:31:19
Unknown
All celebrations will go into steroids because what we will have is the launch and showcasing of our assets. On the 4th of September, we have the show pins and concerts and there will be surprises because the Bishop we are aware of who we don’t know, our very talented musicians, singers and dancers. We will also have an open day, not to mention our awards, our 100 Bishop pins.

00:12:31:19 – 00:12:58:08

We are celebrating 100 Bishop Pins with our awards. We have our annual homecoming. And because it’s our 100th anniversary, homecoming this year is taking on a whole different level of celebration. And so I just want to jump in for a quick moment because we have an eager caller on the line who is ready to win tickets to the Brunch Song.

00:12:58:10 – 00:13:22:11
Unknown
Good morning. Good morning. Good morning. How are you? Good. Are you ready to go to the cross? It’s a big for a nice little bounce. I say brunch, yes. All right, so it’s a really, really simple question. Can you name the two founding fathers of Bishop’s High School? They both on. I serve on science, and I’m.

00:13:22:14 – 00:13:59:05
Unknown
Sorry. Ground you still there? And it seems as though we would have lost some ground. So 6224010. Give us a call. Miss K, apologies for the interruption. Please continue with all these amazing events happening. That was a good interruption. We needed that one. We want them to keep calling, so let them try again. But what, where we left off is that as we we are involved in all of these activities that are leading up to our Founders Day on September 14th and founders, they usually incorporate a march from the church to the school.

00:13:59:05 – 00:14:30:21
Unknown
But this year, this year, we will have that Founder’s Day celebration as a as a capstone event at the Shaw Park Cultural Complex, still incorporating the march, because we really want to have that celebration on a high note. And even as to the, that number that you will call to get information that 6260, right, 2025 because 2025 is our 100th anniversary, it is the 100th anniversary.

00:14:30:21 – 00:14:46:18
Unknown
And unfortunately, we have run out of time. But Nicholas, thank you so much for joining us this morning, hoping that you have an excellent Valentine’s Day brunch and enjoy the rest of the year in fine style. Have a great day! This is no morning, so stay tuned. There’s more coming up on Sebago six days after this break. It’ll be.
