Bishop’s High School Celebrates a Century of Leadership and Legacy.
The air in Tobago is buzzing with anticipation as Bishop’s High School Tobago approaches its 100th Anniversary on September 14th, 2025. The celebrations took center stage on Tobago Updates’ “Good Morning Tobago,” on June 10, where host Shenell Felix welcomed BHS Centennial Committee members, Whitfield Turner and Kimarie Richardson-Thomas. The discussion provided a fascinating glimpse into the ongoing festivities, highlighting the school’s rich history and its profound impact, particularly in shaping leaders.
Under the theme, “Honouring the Past, Celebrating the Present, Charting the Future, by God’s Grace, the BHS Centennial Committee has embarked on a year-long journey filled with events to commemorate this monumental milestone. Kimarie Richardson-Thomas noted the perception that Bishops has “been celebrating forever,” affirming that the goal is precisely to ensure widespread awareness of this significant anniversary.
A key focus of the conversation is the upcoming “From These Hallowed Halls: Men In Leadership Forum”. This event is specifically designed to celebrate some of the countless illustrious men who are sons of Bishop’s High School. The title, “From These Hallowed Halls,” underscores the committee’s belief that the leadership abilities of these individuals were nurtured and “birthed” within the school’s environment.

The event will be hosted on Saturday, June 14th, 2025, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Bowles Hall, Bishop’s High School, Tobago. The forum features a powerful panel of distinguished Bishopians who have reached the pinnacle of leadership in Trinidad and Tobago. The esteemed panelists included:
- Right Reverend Claude Berkley, Bishop of Trinidad and Tobago
- Honourable Ivor Archie, Chief Justice of Trinidad and Tobago
- Honourable Dr Keith Rowley, Former Prime Minister of Trinidad and Tobago
- Honourable Farley Chavez Augustine, Chief Secretary of the Tobago House of Assembly
Moderated by award-winning journalist and fellow Bishopian, Ira Mathura, the forum will offer these leaders a platform to reflect on their experiences at BHS, share memories, and discuss how the school prepared them for their leadership roles in law, politics, religion, and national affairs. The timing of the event was also intentional, coinciding with Father’s Day weekend to specifically highlight the caliber of men produced by the school.
While the event is open to the public, attendees are asked to RSVP by contacting the Centennial Office at 260-2025 due to the seating capacity of Bowles Hall. To ensure broader access for those unable to attend in person, the forum will also be streamed live online on the BHS Centennial Facebook page (@BHStobago100).
The audience, including invited current students (ten from each form, student councils and prefects), will have the opportunity to submit questions to the moderator beforehand or during the live stream. Punctuality for the 6:00 p.m. start was emphasized, reflecting the value of timeliness instilled in Bishopians. Attendees were reminded that food and drinks were not available at the venue.
