As part of its anniversary celebration, we have identified three major projects which align with our theme. The success of these projects depends on the skills, support and enthusiasm of our alumni.
Honouring the Past:
Our legacy project aims to capture and curate the essence of what makes Bishop’s so important in the history of education in the nation. The Centennial Committee will construct and manage a facility where the primary and secondary material unearthed in this significant year will be housed. This facility will be a repository for all things historical about Bishop’s High School and about Tobago’s education history. The vision is for a research centre and an enduring addition to the archival offerings of Tobago right here on the island.
Celebrating the Present
Imagine a collection of all books written by Bishopians. The range of Bishop’s High School’s literary output is undeniable. This ambitious project will acknowledge the contribution made by literally hundreds of the school’s alumni. So far, we have started on a small scale, but we expect our extended community to send us the information on all published works by Bishopians, whether the books are fiction or non-fiction. Send in the details, or better yet, if you can, send us a copy of the book.
Charting the Future
The management of information, past and present, on students, staff and alumni is a critical aspect of any institution’s viability in this digital age. The integration of the varied elements of school life, the interconnectedness of past and present and the ability to flip from face-to-face to online modalities of delivery all require a robust and secure database management system. The skills, and funding needed for such a project certainly exists within our school family. Lend a hand, donate, give information on yourself and your year group. This database development and management will touch the day-to-day lives of students and others in the school well into the future.
